Beverley Rankin Joins Alice Peck Day Hospital

 

November 30, 2010 - Beverley Rankin, RN has joined Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital as Vice President of Patient Care Services and as Chief Nursing Officer.

Rankin, with 24 years of medical experience, comes to APD from Glens Falls Hospital in Glens Falls, NY, where she served as Associate Chief Nursing Officer. Prior to this, Rankin was employed as Chief Nursing Officer at Speare Memorial Hospital and at Rutland Regional Medical Center as their Director of Medical and Oncology Services and Director of Women and Children’s Services. 

She received her BSN from McGill University in Montreal and her Masters from St Michaels in Colchester, VT.  She is a member in the American Organization of Nurse Executives and listed in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

As Vice President, Patient Care Services, Rankin is responsible for the oversight of the Medical/Surgical Units and West, Emergency Services, Surgical Services, the Birthing Center, Cardiopulmonary Services, Pharmacy, Radiology, Laboratory, Social Services, and Rehabilitation Services.  As Chief Nursing Officer, she is responsible for the practice of nursing throughout the hospital, including the clinics. 

Rankin is married to David Byrne, an employee of Cape Air. They have three children: Matthew, a 4th year Engineering Chemistry major at Queen’s University, Michael, a 1st year Math Education major at the University of South Carolina Upstate, and Shauna, a sophomore at High School.

Nancy DuMont Speaks at New Hampshire Oral Health Forum

 

November 24, 2010 - Nancy DuMont, AB, MS, was a presenter at the 8th Annual New Hampshire Oral Health Forum: Connecting Oral Health to Wellness held in Concord, New Hampshire. DuMont, Manager of the Department of Community Health at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, N.H., spoke on “Best Practices in School Based Programs” to an audience of dentists, hygienists and oral health advocates.

DuMont also gave a history of the oral health program at APD, which started in 2003 with the hospital’s first Access Improvement plan. The program that developed from the plan, Upper Valley Smiles, provides oral health education, screenings, cleanings and referrals to area dentists for students in grade K. Starting in 2007, Upper Valley Smiles and APD have enhanced this oral health care by offering preventive sealants and fluoride varnish applications to children in grades 2-3 in the Lebanon school district, grades K-3 in the Enfield Village School, Canaan Elementary School and White River School.

In addition to her duties at APD, DuMont is also the Co-Chair of the Oral Health Initiative (COHI), a group of Upper Valley dental and medical providers/advocates who have been together since 2006 working to address the challenges faced by Upper Valley adults and children who lack a dental home. DuMont also represents APD as a member of the Upper Valley Health Workgroup, a group of area health and human service leaders whose work this year and in 2011 is focused on dental care access challenges.

Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital Donates to the Hope Foundation

 

November 16 - APD announced the donation of 14 Hospital Beds with a total value of $ 3,500 to The Hope Foundation, a charitable foundation in Painesville, Ohio that contributes medical equipment, supplies and monetary donations to special needs children and their families in the United States and around the world. “We are pleased to be able to make this donation,” said Jim Burnham, Department Manager of Materials Management at APD. “As a community hospital, APD recognizes that there are no community borders and is proud to become a Hope Foundation Partner to assist individuals during these hard economic times.”
