Keeping Companies Healthy
Occupational Health Services is an area leader, providing a wide range
of on-site and off-site services to businesses, industries, and
municipalities in the Upper Valley. The program's goal is to provide
cost-effective, comprehensive services that promote the health and
well-being of workers; and to assist businesses with containment of
worker's compensation and healthcare costs.
Our Board-Certified occupational health physician and nurses provide:
Physical Examinations, Injury Management, and Medical Management
Your company can select from our list of standard comprehensive
physical examinations or we can design physical examination programs
tailored to your specific needs:
- Post-offer (pre-placement) physical examinations
- Department of Transportation (DOT) examinations
- Firefighter examinations

- Worker's Comp case management
- Fit-for-duty / Return-to-Work evaluations
- Independent Medical Evaluations (IME's) and second opinion evaluations
- Medical surveillance (Hazard exposure monitoring)

Worker's Compensation Cost Containment Program
Workers' Compensation costs continue to rise, making payment of
premiums increasingly burdensome on employers. In response to this
trend, APD offers employers our Workers' Compensation Cost Containment
program (WCCC).
The WCCC program provides a cost-effective, managed care approach
to rehabilitating the injured employee and facilitating a safe return
to work. Our case managers coordinate and oversee the medical and
rehabilitative processes through open communication and sharing of
information among the employee, employer, and medical provider.
Services include:
- Comprehensive network of medical providers
- Assistance in scheduling of timely referral appointments with specialists
- Independent medical examinations
- Assistance with modified duty programs
- Coordination of "safe return to work"
OSHA Surveillance and Work Safety Services
OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) requires
that companies protect employee health and safety by implementing
certain screening and surveillance programs. Our programs meet OSHA
requirements and provide consultation in:
- Hearing conservation
- Respiratory protection
- Bloodborne Pathogens Standard
- First Aid team training and maintenance
- Ergonomic consultation
- Medical surveillance
- Safety committee representation/consultation
- Hazard communication
Ergonomic Program Management
Our staff will assist you with compliance of the OSHA Ergonomic
Standard. We visit your work site, evaluate current work practices,
then make recommendations for improvements to reduce the possibility of
injuries.

Substance Abuse Testing
Substance abuse continues to be a serious problem in American
society, placing employers, consumers, and the general public at risk.
Substance abuse can cost organizations thousands of dollars in lost
time and liability costs.
Our staff can assist in establishing a substance abuse
prevention/intervention program. We offer DOT and non-DOT drug and
alcohol testing for employers, in accordance with all federal and state
regulations. Laboratory drug testing is performed at SAMHSA - certified
facilities and Certified Breath Alcohol Technicians (BAT's) conduct
breath alcohol tests on up-to-date equipment. Dr. Collins, APD's
Medical Review Officer (MRO), reviews all drug screens.
Occupational Health Service is a Certified Collection Facility, performing well over 2,000 drug screens per year.
On - Site Nursing Programs
Most nursing services can be brought to your worksite on either a one-time or ongoing basis.
