Swine Flu Public Inquiry Line

In response to the international outbreak of a new strain of swine influenza (flu) in humans, New Hampshire Governor John Lynch has established a telephone inquiry line for the public. People who have questions about the outbreak, possible symptoms, travel information or other issues related to this illness can call 1-888-330-6764 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. daily.

Surgical Services

Our state-of-the-art Center for Surgical Services, the busiest place in the hospital, accommodates a variety of specialty cases — from Ear, Nose and Throat, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Oral and Maxillofacial, diagnostic and reconstructive Orthopedics (including total joint replacement), Podiatry, and Urology — to a wide spectrum of  General Surgery.

Our surgeons are supported by the finest in anesthesia, x-ray, laboratory, cardiopulmonary and specialized nursing services. They utilize the latest techniques and technology, including laser and laparoscopic equipment.

Same Day Surgery offers you the advantage of having surgery in the morning and being back in the comfort of your own home later the same day. Because so many surgical procedures can now be performed in Same Day Surgery, most doctors recommend it whenever possible for its economy, convenience, and short recovery time — at a fraction of the cost and stress of inpatient surgery.

Our Same Day Surgery team is trained in Critical Care, Post Anesthesia care, Ambulatory Care, and IV Conscious Sedation, and are Advanced Cardiac Life Support certified. Registered Nurses work in collaboration with our surgeons and anesthetists to prepare you for surgery, assist in minor procedures, and prepare you to go home. Our care doesn't stop when you leave our doors: the next day someone from the team will call to check on your progress and answer your questions and concerns.

Getting Ready for Surgery
We provide our patients with a warm and caring environment at a time when often they are faced with a frightening and unfamiliar situation. All surgeries, major or minor, are scheduled by the surgeon with the Surgical Coordinator. Prior to surgery, you will visit the Surgical Coordinator, who will share with you what happens during surgery, listen to your concerns, answer questions, schedule any pre-operative testing, and give you pre-operative instructions. One of the benefits of having surgery at APD is how quickly and efficiently your surgery can be scheduled, with respect for your schedule and needs.
