APD Earns Four National Excellence in Healthcare Awards
June 21, 2012—Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital was recently recognized with four prestigious National Excellence in Healthcare Awards from the Professional Research Consultants.
Professional Research Consultants (PRC), a national research firm, recognized APD with three 5-star Excellence Awards—one for overall quality of Inpatient Care, for the second year in a row, one for inpatient Obstetrics and Gynecology care, and one for Inpatient Medical-Surgical care. APD also received a 4-star Excellence Awards for quality of care for the Emergency Department.
“We are so proud to receive this national recognition,” said Maryann Caron, Director of Quality. “It is a tribute to our physicians, nurses and hospital staff, who constantly strive to deliver quality care, that their patients recognize them as the very best. These awards are also proof of our commitment to improve the quality of the services we provide to the communities we serve.”
The awards are based on the percentage of randomly selected patients who rate the facility or unit “Excellent” for Overall Quality of Care questions. Patients were surveyed via a confidential phone interview by PRC to assess their perceptions of hospital operations and patient care.
