APD Welcomes Geriatrician Lisa Furmanski, MD
March 24, 2011—Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital is pleased to welcome Lisa Furmanski, MD to the staff of the Robert A. Mesropian Center for Community Care (RAMCCC), a department of APD. Dr. Furmanski specializes in geriatric medicine, with an emphasis on the unique needs of older patients.
Dr. Furmanski is board certified in both Geriatric and Internal Medicine. She earned her BA degree from Harvard University in Cambridge, MA and her Doctor of Medicine degree at Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons, in New York. She served a residency in Primary Care at the University of California, San Francisco, and a fellowship in Geriatrics at the University of California. She also served in the Peace Corps in Togo, West Africa and worked as a physician for Reach-Out Mbuya in Kampala, Uganda.
Dr. Furmanski most recently practiced in the General Internal Medicine Department of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. “We are delighted to have Dr. Furmanski on board,” shares Robin Shaffer, RAMCCC Practice Manager. “She will enhance some of the existing programs at the RAMCCC and develop new and innovative initiatives. The addition of such a skilled geriatrician also signifies the importance APD places on geriatrics as a medical specialty.”
Dr. Furmanski is now accepting new patients at The Robert A. Mesropian Center for Community Care, which houses a team of physicians and nurse practitioners that specialize in Geriatrics, Family Practice, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
