APD’s Barbara Callahan Receives Prestigious President’s Award
January 19, 2012—Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital's President’s Award, given for outstanding contributions and accomplishments, was recently awarded to Barbara Callahan, ARNP, CRNA.
The President’s Award recognizes Callahan, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, for her distinguished tenure as President of the Medical Staff for the past 2.5 years. “It is very unusual for a mid-level provider to hold this position,” states Harry G. Dorman, III, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer, “and she has done an exemplary job of leading the Medical Staff and the Medical Executive Committee, both in facilitating meetings and keeping them on track towards their goals.”
“It has been a pleasure working with Ms. Callahan and I am pleased to recognize her efforts,” adds Dorman. Callahan has worked tirelessly to support APD in multiple ways. As President of the Medical Staff she provided steady leadership reviewing and rewriting the medical staff bylaws, and developing a code of conduct, an on-call policy and a peer review program.”
Callahan received her Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist degree from Dartmouth-Hitchcock School of Nurse Anesthesia, Hanover, NH, and earned her Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner degree at St. Mary of Nazareth, Chicago, IL. She received her Bachelor of Science from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN. She is currently a partner in Upper Valley Anesthesiology at APD.
