APD’s Centering Pregnancy Program Receives March of Dimes Grant
May 13, 2011—Alice Peck Day’s Women Care Midwifery practice is the proud recipient of a March of Dimes grant to enhance their Centering Pregnancy program.
Centering Pregnancy is an innovative group program that integrates prenatal care, education, and social support. Six to ten women, and their partners, in similar stages of pregnancy meet for ten two-hour sessions throughout pregnancy to learn and share experiences with each other, and their midwife. The $6,250.00 grant, supported by WellPoint Inc., will help provide educational materials, staff and provider training, and patient education.
“We are grateful to the March of Dimes for rewarding us this grant and demonstrating their support for our Centering Pregnancy Program,” states Laurie Foster, Certified Nurse Midwife. “The funding will help us improve the prenatal experience for the women we serve and also help us educate our new patients about the advantages of group prenatal care.”
