APD’s Phyllis Barrell named Director, Operating Room
September 13, 2012—Phyllis Barrell, Registered Nurse (RN), Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) was recently named Director of the Operating Room at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital.
Barrell, who resides in White River Junction, Vermont, joined APD as a staff Registered Nurse in 1999. She has grown to hold positions as a Staff Nurse and Charge Nurse in Same Day Surgery, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Medical-Surgical Unit and for the last 10 years in the Operating Room with positions starting as Staff Nurse, to Charge Nurse to the Clinical Leader.
As the Director of the Operating Room she will be overseeing the day-to-day functions, budgets and the administration presence for the Operating Room, the Surgical Scheduler and the Central Sterile Processing department.
“This will be a new challenge and advancement in my career as an RN,” states Barrell. “I have worked at APD for most of my career and am honored to be offered the opportunity to continue to advance and have the support of my colleagues. I look forward to working collaboratively with our dedicated staff to continue to advance our Surgical Services department to provide the highest standards of care to our community.”
Barrell holds an Associate degree in nursing from New Hampshire Community College. She has also earned her Certification as an Operating Room Nurse (CNOR) and plans to continue her education to obtain a Bachelors degree in nursing.
