Carol Williams-Suich, ARNP earns Gerontology Certification

July 15, 2011—Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that Carol Williams-Suich, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) has successfully earned her certification as a Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (GNP) from the American Nurse Credentialing Center.

“This certification helps validate my qualifications and understanding of the management of health problems common to geriatric patients,” states Williams-Suich.  “It is also a complement to our recent addition of Geriatrician Lisa Furmanski, MD and APD’s goal of caring for geriatric patients as a team, which includes home visits and the expertise of our Palliative Care team.” Williams-Suich has cared for patients at APD for the last twenty years at The Robert A. Mesropian Center for Community Care.

In addition to the GNP certification, Williams-Suich holds a Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of California Los Angeles and she earned her RN from Cheshire Hospital School of Nursing, Keene, NH.

“Carol’s success demonstrates her expert knowledge of geriatric nursing practices,” states Beverley Rankin, RN, MSA, BC-NE, Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer. “This accomplishment also indicates the level of dedication, expertise, and compassion our nurses exhibit and is a huge part of what allows APD to grow, and offer our community the best care possible.”
