Leadership Transition at APD
November 1, 2012—Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital announced today that Susan E. Mooney, MD, MS, FACOG has been named as its new President and CEO, after serving as Chief Medical Officer since 2010. Harry G. Dorman, III, FACHE, will remain as the President and CEO of APD’s Health Systems and Lifecare Center until his retirement in the spring.
“Dr. Mooney possesses that rare combination of intelligence, skill, heart and modesty that not only make her an extraordinary physician, but also a highly-respected leader, role model and admired colleague,” Dorman said. “She plans to continue APD’s patient-centered approach and is committed to improving the quality, decreasing costs and expandiing access of the community-based healthcare that we provide.”
Dr. Mooney, who joined APD in 2000 as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist, has served in a variety of leadership positions. Prior to being appointed as the Chief Medical Officer, she temporarily left active practice to obtain a Masters in Quality Improvement from the Center for the Evaluative Clinical Sciences at Dartmouth College, and to complete a Veterans Affairs National Quality Scholars Fellowship.
Dr. Mooney received her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of New Mexico Medical Center at Albuquerque. She is certified by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is a Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
