Nurses Earn Wound Care Certification
February 11, 2011 - Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospitalís Lori Bracy, RN, and Kim Grover, RN recently earned a highly valuable Wound Care Certification (WCC) from the National Alliance of Wound Care.
A Wound Care Certified nurse performs many functions related to wound care management including: classifying the wound, assessing healing, reviewing treatment effectiveness and options, and providing education to patients and other members of the healthcare team.
"It is very rewarding to help a patient with a chronic problem,î explains Grover. "It is hugely gratifying to see the results of healing and to help the patient return to their day-to day activities."
Bracy and Grover will use their training, knowledge and experience to develop a standard of care that will help unify the medications and treatment plans for wound care.
