SHARP Safety Award Presented to APD
May 5, 2014
Lebanon, NH – APD has received a national award for implementing exceptional workplace safety and health programs, as well as maintaining low employee injury and illness rates.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) at the U.S. Department of Labor today presented Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital with a Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) Award. APDMH is one of only six companies in New Hampshire that currently hold this distinction.
“THe SHARP program recognizes small employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system," said Jonathan Stark APDMH Director Plant Operations and Safety Officer. "Acceptance into SHARP by OSHA is recognition and validation that APD’s efforts to develop a culture of safety is succeeding,” he said.
The SHARP program exempts employers with outstanding programs and low injury/illness rates from random compliance inspections. New Hampshire businesses can become eligible for the SHARP award by requesting an assessment of their safety and health program and undergoing a workplace inspection conducted by the Occupational Safety and Health Consultation Service of the Planning, Prevention and Assistance Unit.
