Upper Valley High School Graduates Receive APD Scholarships

Lebanon, NH – Two high school graduates from the Upper Valley have received the 2015 Annual Scholarship Award from Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital.  Hazuki Honuchi from Hanover High School and Sierra Rogers from Lebanon High School both received $1,000 to further their studies in nursing.  Honuchi and Rogers, who will be attending the University of New Hampshire and Rivier University, respectively, to attain their nursing degrees. They received the scholarships at Class Day festivities held prior to their graduations.

The recipients were selected based on an application, two references (including a reference from a practicing nurse), an essay on the impact of this scholarship to their studies; a profile of community service and volunteer work they had been part of, and why they had chosen nursing as a profession. Those submissions were reviewed by APD’s Medical Executive Committee.  This was the first year awards were made to two high school students.

“Hazuki and Sierra join a legacy of nursing students that have benefited from this award,” stated Barbara Dean, APD Medical Staff Coordinator and liaison to the Medical Executive Committee. “As a community hospital, we are proud to help support their education.”
