The Alice’s Apple Tree Award celebrates staff who embody our values of kindness, partnership, service, and community in how they care for patients, support each other, and engage with our broader community. This award is a sister to the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses®, which honors nurses at APD.
We are proud to recognize Ireland, LNA on the Medical Surgical Unit, as the newest recipient of the Alice’s Apple Tree Award.
Ireland began her APD career in Nutrition Services, where she quickly became known for her kindness and compassion. One nominator shared, “I have had many interactions with Ireland and observed her interacting with other staff and visitors many times, and she appears to always lead with kindness and compassion. She appears to be a very hard worker yet is patient and takes the time to answer questions.”
“Since working in the cafe lends itself to interactions with many staff as well as many members of the community, I think we are lucky to have someone like Ireland being the face of APD’s values of kindness, partnership, service, and community,” the nomination continued.
That same warmth and dedication now shine through in her work as an LNA on the Medical Surgical Unit. “She has helped me countless times find things in the gift shop and answer my many questions about the food, and not once has she made me feel burdensome for asking,” her nominator shared. “Employees like Ireland are people that make coming to work more pleasant, not in efforts to be recognized, but simply because it’s in their nature, and these are exactly the type of employees that I think the Alice Award was designed to honor.”
