The Alice’s Apple Tree Award celebrates staff who embody our values of kindness, partnership, service, and community in how they care for patients, support each other, and engage with our broader community. This award is a sister to the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses®, which honors nurses at APD.
We are proud to recognize Stephanie of Nutrition Services as the newest recipient of the Alice’s Apple Tree Award. Stephanie was nominated for the exceptional support she provided to the nursing team during a particularly challenging staffing situation.
One nominator shared, “On 2/14, Stephanie provided a tremendous amount of support to the nursing team. She was a breath of fresh air on a day that nursing had multiple call-outs and only one LNA for a floor of 21 patients.”
As part of a new process, nurses are responsible for passing out meal trays, though certain Nutrition Services team members are able to assist when needed.
The nominator continued, “Stephanie is one of the few who is able to help with meal trays. She stepped up and ensured nursing felt her support with breakfast and lunch trays.”
“Where she truly stood out was when she came back for dinner trays (after her allotted work day, with permission) to ensure the patients and staff felt the support. She went above and beyond in terms of teamwork and patient care.”
