Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital, a member of Dartmouth Health, has again been named by U.S. News & World Report to its 2025-2026 Best Hospitals as a High Performing hospital for Hip Replacement. This is the highest distinction a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings.
“Almost every day I hear from a patient who had an outstanding orthopaedic surgical experience at APD,” said Susan Mooney, MD, MS, FACOG, president and CEO of Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital. “We offer surgical services in a setting that is both state-of-the-art and welcoming. From the friendly and efficient staff to the outstanding surgeons, everyone at APD is an important member of the team. Our excellence in orthopaedic care is just one example of what makes APD unique and we are honored to receive this national recognition for expertise in hip replacement.”
Since 2023, APD has offered knee and hip joint replacement procedures using joint mapping and robotic-assisted surgical tools. These technologies allow specialists to implant artificial joints with more precision and reproducibility.
U.S. News evaluates hospitals across the country, with nearly 6,000 hospitals evaluated annually. Hospitals are assessed through three main areas of patient care and experience. This includes the outcomes from the care provided, the hospital’s process in following the best standards of care and the hospital structure including its resources and technology.
Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), also a member of Dartmouth Health, ranked regionally as the number one hospital in New Hampshire and was also recognized in northern New Hampshire. Additionally, DHMC was recognized as the best regional hospital for community access, which acknowledges its success in providing high-quality care for patients in communities that are often underserved.
