Ways to Give

Many of APD's programs and facilities would not exist without philanthropic support from inspired patients, local businesses, corporate partners, and people within the APD community.

Discover the multiple ways you can give to APD today - and in the future.

Donations to APD make a difference in patient care, such as the addition of the short-stay surgical unit in 2012.

Monetary gifts

The simplest way to support APD is through cash gifts. But creative gifts of assets can include:

  • Stocks and bonds
  • Gifts-in-kind, such as art, jewelry, and antiques
  • Real estate

Every gift, large or small, makes a difference.

Planned giving

Planned giving is a way to make a gift that contributes to the long-term financial strength and ongoing quality of the healthcare provided at Alice Peck Day. We can help you design a plan preserving your commitment to your family while also fulfilling your desire to support APD.

The following list provides a short guide to the most popular planned gift options.

  • A charitable bequest is fully deductible for federal estate tax purposes. You may specify an amount or a percentage of your estate with a codicil to your will.

  • Charitable gift annuity (CGA) is a planned gift vehicle that provides tax benefits for a donor while realizing income during his/her life. Each CGA is unique, based on the donor’s intention and situation.

  • Charitable Lead Trusts provide an inheritance for your children and make a significant charitable gift through your estate. Investment income is distributed to APD first; the principal passes to loved ones with reduced gift or estate taxes.

  • Real estate and property gifts allow you to deduct the fair market value of your gift, avoid all capital gains taxes, and remove that asset from your taxable estate. You can transfer the deed of your home or farm now and keep the right to use the property for your lifetime and that of your spouse.

  • Gifts of retirement plan assetsavoid estate and IRD (Income in Respect of a Decedent) taxes, and 100 percent of the balance of your retirement funds support your philanthropic objectives.
