Dartmouth Health member Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital (APD) has appointed Michael Lynch, MD, MBA, as its CEO and president. He will succeed Sue Mooney, MD, MS, who will depart APD on October 13, 2025.
“Since joining APD in June 2019 as CMO, Dr. Lynch has been an exceptional addition to APD and to Dartmouth Health,” said Joanne M. Conroy, MD, CEO and president of Dartmouth Health. “Dr. Mooney leaves big shoes to fill, but Dr. Lynch is in an excellent position to continue leading APD’s teams in the years to come. I want to congratulate Dr. Lynch on his new role and look forward to our continued partnership.”
During his tenure at APD, Lynch has helped lead many initiatives including the implementation of EPIC as the hospital’s electronic medical record, the integration of Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center’s (DHMC) hospital medicine team into APD’s patient services, and the transition of DHMC emergency providers serving as APD’s emergency department staffing. He has also provided leadership in overcoming the challenges of the pandemic, stewarded growth in surgical services, and solidified APD’s commitment to the vital role of the primary care team in the community. In addition to his administrative work as CMO, Lynch has worked clinically in emergency services at APD and DHMC. He is on the faculty of the Geisel School of Medicine and has served as a clinical instructor.
Previously, Lynch served as executive medical director of Same Day Services at Reliant Medical Group in Worcester, Massachusetts. Prior to Reliant, he worked clinically as an emergency physician at Concord Hospital in Concord, New Hampshire. Lynch was medical director of Urgent Care and served in multiple leadership roles including president of Concord Emergency Medical Associates and chair of Emergency Medicine. In addition, he served as chair of the Concord Hospital Charitable Trust.
He received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth and his medical degree from the University of Virginia. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He also completed a Physician Executive MBA at Brandeis University.
Lynch’s appointment to CEO and president of APD was recommended by the APD Board of Trustees after an extensive national search and rigorous candidate review process.
