Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital (APD), a member of Dartmouth Health, has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a 2026-2027 Best Hospital with a high-performing rating in hip replacement.
The high-performing designation recognizes hospitals that deliver excellent patient outcomes in specific procedures and conditions, placing APD among the nation’s top-performing hospitals for hip replacement care.

Since 2023, APD has offered knee and hip joint replacement procedures using joint mapping and robotic-assisted surgical tools. These technologies allow specialists to implant artificial joints with more precision and reproducibility.
APD’s recognition is part of a strong showing across Dartmouth Health in this year’s rankings. Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center was named the number one hospital in New Hampshire, recognized as the best regional hospital for community access and rated high-performing in 18 categories. Cheshire Medical Center was also recognized as high-performing in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and colon cancer surgery.
U.S. News evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions; only 16% of evaluated hospitals earned a Best Hospitals designation.
The U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings serve as a starting point for patients and families, who should consult with their personal physicians when making specific healthcare decisions.
To determine the Best Hospitals, U.S. News analyzed each hospital’s performance based on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience. The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings methodology and Procedures & Conditions ratings methodology measure patient outcomes using data from over 800 million records of patient care.
