APD Receives Healthcare Business of the Year Award

Alice Peck Day Hospital staff showed extraordinary resolve and resourcefulness as they navigated staff shortages, COVID testing, shifting patient care priorities, exhausted staff and varying patient responses to COVID protocols.

APD has received the 2022 Healthcare Business of the Year award from the Upper Valley Business Alliance (UVBA). The UVBA represents 460 businesses in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont, and more than 700 votes were cast for the awards.

“We are honored to receive this award,” said APD’s President and CEO, Sue Mooney, MD, MS, FACOG. “However, the true recipients are our employees for their incredible dedication to our patients and community during this pandemic.”

The award was presented by Stephen Gurin, SVP, Director of Community Banking, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, to the Chair of the APD Board of Trustees, Greg Lange.

In his remarks, Gurin noted that "Alice Peck Day Hospital staff showed extraordinary resolve and resourcefulness as they navigated staff shortages, COVID testing, shifting patient care priorities, exhausted staff and varying patient responses to COVID protocols.”

He also said that “APD has invested in innovation for the future by acquiring a germ-zapping robot they have named ‘Violet’ and will be soon opening a residential treatment center for women in recovery from substance misuse.”

UVBA also recognized other organizations and individuals in the Upper Valley, including Jon Hunt (Executive Director, Whaleback Mountain) as Innovator of the Year; King Arthur Baking Company as Large Business of the Year; Norwich Bookstore for Small Business of the Year; Meagan Henry, (Lebanon Recreation, Arts & Parks) as Young Professional of the Year; Mac's Maple for Retail/Hospitality Business of the Year; SILO Distillery for Products/Services Business of the Year; Upper Valley Haven for Nonprofit of the Year, and Jennifer Karr (River Valley Club) as Volunteer of the Year.
