When I was in high school, I had a very kind family physician who really listened. I came away from those appointments thinking I could help people in a similar way. Pregnancy and birth are such extraordinary processes to witness. I knew I wanted to help care for women during this important time in their lives.
As a doctor of gynecology and obstetrics, I listen to patients’ gynecologic concerns and problems so we can work together to find practical solutions. It is very satisfying to talk a patient through her different options, and then get to a place where she is much happier with her quality of life. I'm delighted when a patient I have operated on tells me they had a wonderful experience.
I love working in an academic medical center, where my job is a little bit different every day. I take care of a wide variety of patients, teach and learn, and pursue outside interests. It keeps my job very interesting and rewarding!
