Sarah C. Crockett, MD
Emergency Medicine
I am a physician in the Emergency Department and I am also the Director of our Wilderness and Austere Medicine Fellowship. My path in wilderness medicine began early in my undergraduate career as a Dartmouth Outing Club leader and student member of the Upper Valley Wilderness Rescue team
As a medical student, I became part of the Advanced Wilderness Life Support educational team and helped to develop the AWLS curriculum and I have taught AWLS courses nationally and internationally. My interest in austere medicine has led to health care collaborations in rural Mexico, Haiti, Kenya and Samoa. I am convinced that becoming an expert in providing the best possible health care in resource-limited settings leads to becoming a better healthcare provider in any situation. I have dedicated myself to creating cutting-edge educational programs in Wilderness and Austere medicine for fellows, residents, students, and other providers.
In my spare time, I enjoy telemark skiing, mountain biking, hiking, trail running, and sharing my passion for the outdoors with my husband, four children, and anyone willing to listen to her thoughts on “wilderness wellness.”
