Nicholas J. Daniel, DO, DiMM, FAWM
Emergency Medicine
Whether in the Emergency Department or on a remote mountainside, my goal is to provide a prompt diagnosis and excellent care for all urgent conditions. I want to help each patient understand their medical condition and the options for their care. I treat each of my patients with respect and compassion.
In addition to my work as a physician in the Emergency Department, I teach Advanced Wilderness Life Support. I am a midwest transplant, having spent the first several years of my life on the rugged north shore of Lake Superior, growing up in Iowa, and returning to lakes and forests in northern New England.
I have taught AWLS courses regionally and internationally. I have taught wilderness medicine in such locations as the Adirondacks, White Mountains, Mexico, Africa, Guatemala, Russia, and Panama. I spent a month in the Indian Himalayas teaching medical students while providing medical care, as well as time in Haiti. I have completed my FAWM and earned a diploma in mountain medicine.
I enjoy hiking, backpacking, ultra-hiking, camping, mountaineering, woodworking, ice climbing, scuba diving, and sailing. I love adventure and experiences and have traveled to over 25 countries, and attempted summits on peaks such as Volcán Tajumulco, Mount Hood, Mount Shasta, Chimborazo, Mount Rainier, Kilimanjaro, Pico de Orizaba, Mount Elbrus, and hundreds of smaller peaks across the White Mountains, and the northeast.
