Peter Loescher, MD, is a family practitioner and primary care sports medicine doctor. He has practiced in the Upper Valley since 1998. Dr. Loescher completed his residency at Dartmouth, pursued a fellowship elsewhere, returned, and has been here since 2002. He was a primary care physician 50% of the time and did Orthopedics and sports medicine 50% of the time for the first seven years in private practice through White River Family Practice and Connecticut Valley Sports Medicine. In 2008, he joined Gifford Medical Center and moved exclusively to sports medicine and Orthopedics at the Sharon Health Center, where they led a multidisciplinary sports medicine practice. He was there for 12 years. In 2020, Dr. Loescher came to APD, where he has been since. He is the sole practitioner in the sports medicine department, which is adjacent to orthopedics, performing non-surgical orthopedic care for patients of all ages. Dr. Loescher is very interested in the use of ultrasound for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in clinical practice as well as orthobiologic treatments for chronic musculoskeletal injuries and osteoarthritis.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family: his wife, Connie, and their two kids, Caroline and Sam, ages 22 and 19. He also enjoys backcountry skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and trail running.
