Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy may be trendy, but it is not a new remedy. It dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. One of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, the Ebers Papyrus, describes how the ancient Egyptians used cupping therapy in 1550 BCE.

Today at APD, the therapist puts specialized cups on your skin. Attached to a suction pump, the cups cause your skin to rise and redden as your blood vessels expand. The cups remain in place between three to thirty minutes, depending on the therapist’s observations.

Cupping therapy can alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, increase blood circulation, promote relaxation, and act as a form of deep-tissue massage.
